Truancy

The underlying causes that contribute to Chronic Absenteeism and Truancy can be complex and frustrating for students, parents, and educators. ROE 35 Student & Family Services Department takes a proactive, support role when addressing the needs of truant students both at school and at home. It is our goal to guide students and families through the process of modifying their habits and routines to ensure regular attendance.

To assist schools in supporting the truancy laws and helping students and their families to make good attendance a priority, ROE 35 has provided guidelines for understanding attendance requirements and for making appropriate referrals to the Student & Family Services Department when students’ attendance warrants our attention and support.
